JEDDAH: Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah told citizens yesterday he is part of them and feels their pains. He said they would see many good things happening in the coming days.

Addressing citizens and officials who came to greet him on the occasion of the fourth anniversary of his accession to the throne, King Abdullah said what he had done for the country and its citizens was the result of God’s blessings. He wished every citizen success and good health.

“My brothers...I have nothing for you except thanks ... I wish you all the best ... I am one of you ... What pains you pains me ... It is God Almighty who helped me to serve you,” the Saudi Press Agency quoted the king as telling those who came to greet him.

The reception was attended by Second Deputy Premier and Minister of Interior Prince Naif, Makkah Gov. Prince Khaled Al-Faisal and other senior princes and top officials.

Speaking on behalf of the citizens, Abdul Maqsoud Khoja, a prominent Jeddah businessman, commended King Abdullah’s efforts to promote moderation and inject the spirit of responsibility. He also praised the king for his endeavors to fight poverty, empower women and promote education.

King Abdullah, meanwhile, held talks with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas and Yemeni Vice President Abdu Rabbu Mansour Hadi.
